Ken Berger, Class of '61, Chapter President his senior year shared that the chapter name was The Carnation Chapter of the Future Farmers of America - Schulenburg based on the Carnation plant in Schulenburg (now where Dairy Farmers of America is located). Carnation Plant was essential for processing all the milk from local dairy farms that was delivered in milk cans and later by truck.
Mac Lamascas, class of '64 indicated the show previously was held at the -Wolters Park Pavilion (up until Exposition Center was built) - quite a few us remember setting up all the panels, moving shavings in donated by Ruhmans shovel/wheel barrow plant which took 1 - 2 weeks. We still felt blest to have this facility to keep everything dry although some years a blue norther made it cold. -Prior to this (in 50's & 60's), the show was held under old sheds at Wolters Park where the cattle and sheep were tied under and there was a separate hog barn. Show ring was temp ring of cedar posts with rope tied around them.
Rodney Kalich, class of '84 wishes the exhibitors a great show in 2021! He remembers the many educational experiences from the classroom, leadership & judging contests, meeting new people at district, area, state and national conventions, shop show projects and the stock show. He also remembers when Schulenburg FFA celebrated the 50th year in 1980 when he was a freshmen and the chapter invited members/teachers in years past for a program/meal. The summer trips were a great way to end the year: the unique suitcases (painted Shiner beer hulls), out of state trips.
